---------------------------------- A Personal Note From the Craftsman-------------------------------------------------------- My focus in fine handcrafted furniture and custom woodworking centers around the architectural style of the Arts and Crafts Period and around the strong, simple style epitomized by Mission Style, Arts & Crafts Style works of such architects as Greene & Greene and the designs of craftsman such as Gustav Stickley. These are the architects and fine craftsman representing the time period when true craftsmanship was as much a work of art as it was a job. My work is influenced by what these men created.
My interior and exterior lighting showcase mica shades with copper accents and stained glass lamp shades on richly detailed wood bases. My exterior lighting has become a client favorite, especially when paired with matching doors. Some of my work is multi-functional. I build a convertible baby crib that can be changed into a toddler's bed, and eventually into a daybed. It will be purchased once, but will last a lifetime. The unique appeal of my work is in the design, finish and detail of every piece that I build. I painstakingly sand the wood to an extremely fine finish, then apply a hand rubbed finish using several coats of oil and finally a coat of oil and wax. The result is almost glasslike. The photo of my Mission Style dining room furniture shows this glasslike finish.
I am always open to the design suggestions of my clients. I truly enjoy taking an idea and making it a one of a kind showstopper. Most of the furniture pieces featured on my website are commissioned pieces that are now in my client's homes. I prefer to build furnishings which meet the specific needs of each client, this way almost all of my work is one of a kind. Each piece is signed and numbered. Featured on the following pages you will find Arts and Crafts Style furnishings Greene & Greene Style Furniture, beautiful Custom Woodworking projects for the interior and exterior of home or business, and a new line of Stained Glass Lighting in the Arts & Crafts Style that is extremely popular.
