Fine Homebuilding Magazine Features Gallenberg Studio As Prize Winner
Announcing Your Best Built-ins & Cabinets
To be honest, this is never easy, as the quality of pieces posted in our gallery on a daily basis are top notch.
Thanks to all of you who participated and to Stanley Tools, who supplied some fantastic prize packages!
Now, without further ado, here are our winners:
Hinged Entertainment Center by Edwin Smart
Smart's innovative entertainment center swings right out from the side of a beautiful stone fireplace. This makes it possible to enjoy the big screen from either the kitchen or the dining room. Well done, Edwin!
Mahogany Library by Peter Grahn
Grahn's use of rich mahogany for a mantle, built-in bookcases and paneling brings to mind the old world charm of a British manor's library. Beautifully designed and skillfully executed, the space created by Grahn has "warm and inviting" written all over it. Cheers, Peter!
Greene & Greene Remodel by Tom Gallenberg
Greene & Greene is most certainly one of the more difficult styles to pull off successfully but Tom Gallenberg really put his skills to the test with the creation of custom leaded glass sconces just loaded with beautiful joinery. Tom really went the extra mile and it shows!
For their efforts, our three winners will each be taking home a Stanley prize package loaded
with homebuilding goodies. Congratulations to all the winners!
And if you didn't place this time around, don't fret, as we've got plenty of other gallery
contests up our sleeves to keep your saw blades spinning!

Press Release:
The April 2009 issue of Wisconsin Trails Magazine features Thomas Gallenberg of Gallenberg Studio in it's new section, "Wisconsin Marketplace". In this section artisans from Wisconsin are spotlighted with a photo showing a sample of the artist's work and information on the artist as well as the location of the Studio.
"We are very excited about the recognition that Tom's work is getting from publications around the country and right here in Wisconsin," commented Maureen Gallenberg, marketing and business manager for the Studio. "Tom is gaining visibility for his beautiful work. Being noticed by highly regarded publications is quite a feather in his cap," she continued.
Gallenberg is an American Master Craftsman who specializes in designs of the Arts and Crafts Period. He is strongly influenced by the works of Greene & Greene, popular architects and designers who exemplify the style of this time period. He has attracted a loyal following from across the country. His work is gaining in popularity due to a resurgence of interest in the Arts and Crafts Style which currently sweeping the country. His work includes; furnishings, remodeling, lighting, accessories for the home, doors, garage doors and more.
His work is noted for his ability to incorporate fine period details and his use of such old world construction techniques as mortise and tenon joinery. He favors the use of multiple applications of natural oils as a finish. He feels this is the best way to bring out the natural beauty of each wood species. Tom states, "This is my favorite way to bring out the spirit of the wood. The unique grain pattern of each wood species is drawn out and highlighted with this process and will be further enhanced as the aging process occurs."
Tom's work is by commission and each piece is signed and numbered.
Gallenberg Studio will have a display booth at the upcoming "Arts and Crafts Chicago 4th Annual Show and Sale".
The show is scheduled for May 30th and 31st, 2009 at Concordia University, River Forest, Illinois.

The magazine has added a new department to it's popular publication called "Project Gallery". This Gallery features highlights from it's website: www.Finehomebuilding.com.
